Prints - Berkshire/Surrey
The prints on this page feature both the Swinley Forest and Chobham Common.
I have been walking in the Swinley Forest since I my teenage years, whilst I have only been exploring Chobham Common since 2020. Despite their differences, one managed by the Crown Estate for commercial timber production, the other 'common' land they share the tension of being both desirable and useful to humans but ecologically important for wildlife.
Both have multiple SSSI and SPA designations (among others) and are nationally important conservation sites. I am fascinated by the experience of walking in such locations, uncovering their layered histories, reflecting on what they mean to us now and what they might become in the future.
