Jo Boddy Printmaker logo featuring large blue writing

Jo Boddy is fascinated by the impact humans have had on the British landscape throughout history.  Through drawing and printmaking on location Jo records her experience of being in the landscape whilst researching how we have shaped the natural world through time.  She reflects on the layered relationship between people and place and considers how contemporary experience and historic land use create a sense of belonging and connection with the land that is passed through the generations.

Working from her home studio in Ascot Berkshire, Jo uses multiple printmaking techniques on paper to record the marks of human presence and consider the quiet power of place; how landscapes root us, record our collective past - the triumphs as well as the mistakes, and prompt questions of how to live in the future.

The technical side of printmaking requires patience and practise, yet it is an art form which lends itself to experimentation; not only does Jo experiment with multiple printmaking techniques, she also produces large scale installations featuring print combined with stitch, alongside traditional limited edition prints.

You can watch a 5 minute film about Jo's practice.

This was made for the final unit of her MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in spring 2024.
