This is a two plate print created using lithographic tusche as an etching resist for the background plate.  The footprints were etched using caustic soda on lino which was then printed intaglio.
 
This print is part of a project exploring the Isle of Dogs as it once was 250 years ago when the land was animal grazing and salt marsh.  At low tide wading birds would have been abundant, picking through the mud and sand looking for food.  In wetland areas birds seem to be the most obvious and frequently spotted inhabitants.
 
My prints are all made by hand, each layer of each print is individually inked and pressed therefore there are individual variations within each edition.  Every print is a unique and orginial work of art.
