Part of a series inspired by standing on the highest dune, right above the beach at Winterton-on-Sea looking back over the land, then turning towards the sea. This title references the ever changing nature of both the sand dunes and the coastline - it's constantly being eroded by the sea and human interventions to save specific places have hastened the encroachment in others. There's usually only a couple of months between our visits from spring to autumn yet something has always changed.
Thoughts of impermanence, flux and constant change in the landscape alongside the permanence of historic habitats and the species who depend upon it stretching back through time are juxtaposed in these works. This is a landscape is a place that very much feels like it belongs to itself first.
This work is framed in charcoal by Alastair Smithers Framing.
