Artist Statement
Peeling back the paper from the plate is a magical moment, the big reveal; the answer to the question, the prompting of more questions. This is what fascinates me about printmaking and why I choose to explore place and landscape through the medium of print. ​​​
​
My exploration of place involves delving into the history of land use alongside contemporary lived experience of the land. Humans have been manipulating the landscape for millennia and we feel deeply connected to particular places. I create landscape images based on human experience.

​​​The technical side of printmaking requires patience and practise, yet it is an art form which lends itself to experimentation. At the core of my practice is a deep-rooted desire to experiment, explore and ask ‘what happens if…?’. Experimenting with a range of printmaking techniques means they inform each other, whilst using a practice-based research approach leads to new ways of looking at the landscape and so process and experience become cyclical.​​​​
